HikingMountains in Nagano

Recommended for beginners in mountaineering! This summer, enjoy the spectacular “treasure trove of alpine flora” at 2,612 meters above sea level in Nagano!

The alpine flora spread out on Senjidashiki (2,612 meters above sea level) is truly spectacular! You may think you can’t climb that high, but don’t worry. You can use the Komagatake ropeway to reach the 2,612-meter altitude in a single trip, so even beginners can enjoy the climb!

What is Senjatashiki Curl like?

The Senjojiki Curl extends below Mt. Hōken in the Central Alps (Kiso Mountains). The curl was created by glacial erosion about 20,000 years ago, and is called the “Senjojiki Curl” because it is as wide as 1,000 tatami mats. In summer, the area is a flower field with many alpine plants (black lilies, cattails, thunbergia, thunbergia, etc.), in fall, the vivid mountain surface turns red, in winter, there is snow, and in spring, the Senjojiki ski resort is opened. Kisokomagatake is a 2,956-meter-high mountain in Nagano Prefecture and the highest peak in the Kiso Mountain Range (Central Alps). Komagatake, the main peak of the Central Alps, commands a panoramic view of Mount Fuji, the Southern Alps, Mount Ontake, Mount Norikura, and the Northern Alps. Komagatake ropeway and mountain climbing are accessible to beginners!

Mountain Climbing Experience

I was so excited to see so many spectacular views that can only be seen here, lol. I could understand why it is called a treasure chest of alpine flora and why it is recommended for beginners!
