    Recommended Hiking Season

    ■Spring (April – June)
Spring is a beautiful season when the new green leaves emerge and the mountain plants begin to sprout. From late April to June, the weather is generally stable, making it an enjoyable time for hiking with pleasant temperatures. The mountain trails are free of snow, and Mt. Fuji is still capped with snow, making it a highly recommended season!

    ■Clothing
While it’s relatively warm during the day, it can get chilly in the mornings and evenings. It’s best to have layers of clothing such as a long-sleeved shirt, a light fleece, and a windbreaker!

    ■Summer (July – August)
In summer, alpine plants are in full bloom, and the entire mountain is covered in colorful flowers. It’s also a popular summer retreat, and you can enjoy comfortable hiking in the cool climate. However, please keep in mind that it can get crowded on weekends and public holidays.

    ■Clothing
As対策 (a countermeasure) against the heat, wear clothing made of breathable, quick-drying material that wicks away sweat. It’s also a good idea to have a hat and sunglasses!

    ■Autumn (September – November)
In autumn, the autumn foliage colors the mountain, and its beauty is exceptional. The peak of the autumn leaves is from mid-October to early November, attracting many hikers and tourists. There are often clear autumn days with crisp air, providing excellent opportunities to see distant mountains.

    ■Clothing
Since there are significant temperature changes, be sure to bring warm clothing such as a fleece and a down jacket!

    ■Winter (December – March)
Winter hiking involves snow mountain climbing and requires proper equipment and experience. However, the snow-covered scenery is magical and particularly appealing to experienced mountaineers. To enjoy it safely, winter mountain gear and checking the weather conditions are essential.

    ■Clothing
You will need thick winter clothing, a hat, gloves, a neck warmer, etc. Depending on the snow conditions, crampons and an ice axe may be necessary.

    Hiking Experiences

Starting later than usual, I finally headed onto the Mt. Kurodake trail. With each step, the sound of rustling leaves underfoot was so pleasant. The path started gently, gradually increasing in incline, but it wasn’t too much at all, so I didn’t get tired at all. Before I knew it, I was at the Mt. Kurodake summit! However, the summit didn’t have an open view, so I walked about 200 meters to the observation plaza! What jumped out in front of me was a vast panorama that far exceeded my imagination! Mt. Fuji standing majestically before Lake Kawaguchiko was truly breathtaking! The instant ramen I ate while gazing at Mt. Fuji was the best!

From the car park it takes about 10 minutes to reach the Lily of the Valley car park!
