【Mt.KitaYokodake】 Recommended for beginners in mountain climbing! Spectacular views spread from the Yatsugatake mountain range to the Alps!

Yokodake in Kita-Yatsugatake along with Mt. Tateshina is called “Kita-Yokodake” to distinguish it from Yokodake. The view from the south peak is magnificent of the mountains of the Yatsugatake main range. The Southern Alps, the Central Alps, and the Northern Alps mountain range can also be seen. On the summit of the mountain, plants such as Japanese spruce and rhododendrons spread out, and on the route along the rocky sea, moss and Japanese white pine can be seen. There are various routes to the summit, but once you use the ropeway, it takes only about two hours to reach the summit, making it a good mountain for beginners.

Mountain Climbing Experience

After climbing it, I felt that Kita-Yokodake is really a good mountain for beginners! Many people use the ropeway, the mountain trail is relatively easy to climb, and the climbing time is about 1.5 to 2 hours. We thought it was not enough for us, so we climbed from the base station! Still, it is an enjoyable climb because there are few steep climbs and the scenery is open most of the time! The constant views of the Alps kept us on our toes!

07:00 Sanroku Station Climbing begins
Parking: 600 cars (free of charge) *Click here for ropeway details
This time, we will go up the mountain without using the ropeway!

At the beginning of the climb, you will be in the forest, but soon you will have a clear view, and if you look back, you will be able to see the Southern Alps!
Continue climbing under the ropeway!

08:40Mountaintop Station (Tsuboniwa)
First, we arrived at Tsuboniwa! The ropeway will take you here in one go.
From the observation platform attached to the Tsuboniwa station, you can enjoy a spectacular view of the Alps, so even if you don’t climb the worst of the Alps, you can still enjoy this summit station. LOL!

We walked on a wide lava plateau called Tsuboniwa, from where we could also see Kita-Yokodake (Mt. Kitayoko)! (Mt. Shimakare behind the two of us)
The Tsuboniwa walking trail is a gravel path, but very easy to walk on!

Looking down to the right, you will see a tsuboniwa garden and Mt!

By the way, this is what it looks like when it is a snowy mountain! I recommend Kita-Yokodake for beginners in snowy mountains!

09:50 Kita-Yokodake Hutte
There are benches and tables to rest before the last spurt. There are also toilets for your convenience!

10:00 Kita-Yokodake (South peak)
We have arrived at the summit of the southern peak of Kita-Yokodake (北横岳)! Minami Yatsugatake is so beautiful!

10:05 Kita-Yokodake (North peak)
It took us about 3 hours to reach the summit!

Tateshina in front of you! Behind it is the Alps mountain range!
You can have lunch with such a spectacular view! (The summit is open.)

Here is the view from the summit of the North Peak!

We had soft ice cream at the restaurant at the summit station and took the ropeway down the mountain.
